Sapphire is a very tough stone, second only to diamond.
Considered excellent in wear ability, it is
in the corundum family of gems along with Ruby.  It comes
in every color, even red.  The most common colors are blue, pink, yellow, white and orange.  Sapphire is composed of aluminum dioxide but the blue color comes from trace amounts of titanium and iron.
