Amethyst

Amethyst is the birthstone for February.  Rated good for wear ability, it is in the Quartz family of gems along with Citrine. 
Amethyst varies in color from lilac to plum, but it is always purple.  Made of silicon oxide, the purple hue comes from trace amounts of iron.
